Units of Intelligence (UoI)
ToothFairyAI uses Units of Intelligence (UoI) as a simple, transparent way to measure and pay for AI operations. Instead of complex per-feature pricing, UoI gives you a single currency to budget and track all your AI usage.
What is a UoI?
1 UoI = $0.01 USD
That's it. A clear, predictable unit that makes it easy to understand exactly what you're spending on AI operations. Whether you're generating text, creating images, or transcribing audio, everything is measured in UoI.

Monthly Budgets by Subscription
Your subscription includes a monthly UoI allocation that resets each billing cycle:

Your total monthly budget is calculated as UoI per Unit × Capacity Units. For example:
- A Business workspace with 10 capacity units: 5,000 × 10 = 50,000 UoI/month
- An Enterprise workspace with 20 capacity units: 7,500 × 20 = 150,000 UoI/month

Text Generation (LLMs)
Large Language Model usage is measured in tokens. Pricing varies by model tier based on capability and performance:

A typical conversation message is ~50-100 tokens. A page of text is approximately 500-750 tokens.

Monitoring Your Usage
Track your UoI consumption in real-time from your workspace:
- Dashboard — View current usage and remaining budget
- Settings > Notifications — Set alerts at 80% and 100% thresholds
- Usage History — Review detailed breakdowns by service type
When your monthly UoI budget is exhausted, requests will be paused until:
- Your budget resets at the start of your next billing cycle
- You upgrade your subscription or add capacity units

Need More UoI?
If you regularly exceed your monthly budget:
- Scale your allocation — Individual (Pro) subscribers can increase or decrease their UoI at any time (see below)
- Upgrade your subscription — Move to a higher tier for better rates
- Contact sales — Enterprise customers can request custom allocations
Adjusting your UoI allocation
Individual (Pro) subscribers can scale their UoI allocation up or down to match their actual consumption, without changing plan. UoI is measured per seat at 1,500 UoI per seat.
How to change your allocation
- Open the Workspaces screen and edit your workspace
- Next to Choose your plan, click Edit
- Select the Individual plan card
- Use the − / + stepper to adjust your UoI in steps of 1,500 UoI (1 seat)
- Confirm the change — your new allocation takes effect immediately
Range and limits

You cannot lower your allocation below the UoI you have already consumed in the current billing period. If you've used 6,000 UoI this cycle, your minimum selectable allocation is 6,000 UoI (4 seats) until the cycle resets.
Plan changes vs. UoI changes
- Same-plan UoI changes (Pro → Pro, different allocation) can be made at any time and take effect immediately — there is no monthly limit on adjusting your allocation within the Individual plan.
- Plan-type changes (for example Individual → Business) are limited to once per calendar month. If you've already changed plan this month, a further plan-type change is deferred to the next billing cycle (and can be cancelled before then).
- Downgrades to a lower plan tier are not available in-app. To move to a lower tier, delete the workspace and create a new one with the desired subscription.
- Business and Enterprise plans use block-based UoI and are managed differently. Enterprise UoI can be increased above the minimum commitment by contacting support.
- Reserved compute workspaces cannot adjust UoI in-app — contact us to make changes.
